The Ethics Council was established in 1987 at the same time as the Association agreed on its first Ethical Norms. Since 1990, most of the Ethics Council’s work has consisted of dealing with complaints from clients against member firms.
The Council’s functions are divided into two:
- The Complaints Council – which deals with complaints from clients
- The Ethics Council – which deals with cases raised on its own initiative or by the Executive Committee
Cases are dealt with by the Complaints Council/Ethics Council according to separate procedural rules and on the basis of the Association’s Ethical Norms.
